Former President Donald Trump’s former national security advisor Robert O’Brien endorsed J.D. Vance in the highly-contested GOP primary to represent Ohio in the U.S. Senate.
In the endorsement released by Vance’s campaign, O’Brien called Vance “a strong leader who will fight for President Trump’s America First foreign policy.”
Furthermore, O’Brien detailed that the best-selling author’s positions on a host of key issues qualify Vance as the “best choice” for the position to replace retiring Senator Rob Portman (R-OH).
“From dismantling the Big Tech alliance that is increasingly selling out to the Chinese Communist Party, to bringing back manufacturing jobs to America’s working class, JD will fight to reverse American decline. Conservatives and Trump supporters across Ohio have a champion in JD Vance, and I believe he is the best choice to serve as the next United States Senator from the Buckeye State” the former national security advisor said.

The endorsement from the top security official is likely an additional boost to Vance’s growing campaign. Previously, Representative Jim Banks (R-IN-03), who also serves as the Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, announced his support for Vance.
“Ambassador O’Brien is one of the country’s most influential and well-respected leaders. As our country and the world descend into chaos, I’m honored to receive his endorsement. Robert is one of the great champions of President Trump’s America First policy agenda, and his endorsement sends a strong signal about who will stand up to our enemies,” the candidate said of O’Brien’s endorsement.
The additional endorsement in the crowded primary field in the GOP competition comes as candidates attempt to connect themselves to the former president and his allies.
Many Trump allies have already voiced their support for different candidates. Kellyanne Conway, a senior counselor in Trump’s White House, and Trump’s ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, are working with businessman Bernie Moreno.
